In the Diocese of Calgary, children receive the Sacrament of First Reconciliation when they are in Grade 2 or older. They must have already received the Sacrament of Baptism and Reconciliation prior to receiving First Eucharist. Our parish-based sacrament programs involve the family, catechists, Catholic schools and the whole parish community, leading to a richer understanding of the sacraments and reception of grace.
The Sacrament preparation journey at St. Pius X parish consists of the following:
MARK YOUR CALENDAR:
- Plan to attend a Parent Information Session (mandatory) in the church on Saturday, September 9th at 9:30 am. We will present the Sacrament program and how families can continue to support their child’s faith development.
- Four (4) sessions and a retreat to prepare for First Reconciliation Celebration.
- There will be sessions for children, along with concurrent sessions for parents at the same time. The sessions run for 90 minutes.
There is a fee of $25 for each Sacrament Preparation Program to help to offset the cost of the materials. Your child will receive a booklet, Celebrate and Remember Reconciliation.
Reconciliation schedule is as follows. Children & Parents to attend. All sessions are held on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 11:00 am and are subject to change:
