Stations of the Cross
On Fridays during Lent there will be two opportunities to participate in the Stations of the Cross.
At 9:30 am, following the Mass, Father Ben will lead the prayers of the Stations of the Cross. While Father Ben will proceed from Station to Station, participants will remain in their pews as they respond to the prayers.
At 7:00 pm, Deacon Dan will lead the prayers of the Stations of the Cross on Zoom. Contact Deacon Dan to get access to the Zoom meeting.
Confessions during Lent
During this time of pandemic, our Parish will not be having a Parish Penitential Service. Parishioners are invited to Reconciliation after any of the weekday or weekend Masses or to call Father Ben to make an appointment. All confessions will be heard in Father Ben’s office.
Lenten Faith Journey
Our Lenten Faith Journey continues on Monday evenings at 7:00 pm.
Join Deacon Dan as he presents ‘Road to Redemption’, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Zoom. There will be a short video followed by a discussion of the upcoming Sunday readings.
To join, please contact Deacon Dan.
St. Vincent de Paul and Street Sisters
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is asking for your support of Street Sisters this Lent.
Street Sisters are a group of community based volunteers who literally go out onto the streets to connect with girls and women who are homeless, exploited, victims of trauma and abuse, and suffering from addiction or mental health issues. Besides connecting them with critical resources, Street Sisters meets immediate basic needs.
At St. Pius X, we will have boxes in the church vestibule to collect your donations of: warm gloves/mittens, NEW thermal socks, NEW women’s underwear, feminine hygiene products, bottled water/juice boxes, individually packaged snack foods (granola bars, chips, crackers etc.). Our Vincentians will deliver these to Street Sisters.
We thank you for your support. Donation boxes will be in the church vestibule for all of the Sundays in Lent.
Lenten Spiritual Renewal
Beginning on Ash Wednesday and for each Sunday of the season of Lent, Bishop McGrattan is offering spiritual renewal reflections for individuals, families and communities in the Diocese as we prepare to celebrate the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In Ash Wednesday’s reflection, Bishop McGrattan calls for a personal renewal, for us to recognize or reimagine the deep gifts we received at our Baptism.
This 8-part video series of Lenten Spiritual Renewal (15-25 minutes reflection) is a part of the Diocesan Spiritual Renewal “Duc in altum | Put out into the deep”. Videos will be made available on the Diocese’s social media and their website: catholicyyc.ca
Upcoming reflection themes:
- Feb. 21, First Sunday of Lent: The Primacy of God’s Grace
- Feb. 28, Second Sunday of Lent: The Call to Holiness
- March 7, Third Sunday of Lent: Prayer
- March 14, Fourth Sunday of Lent: Listening to the Word of God
- March 21, Fifth Sunday of Lent: Proclaiming the Word of God
- March 28, Palm Sunday: Reconciliation and Healing
- April 4, Easter Sunday: The Holy Eucharist
40 Days and Nights
